Set in older times, around 1900. in a world where monsters exist, such as mythological creatures with anthropomorphic features, there is an organization living inside a castle that takes in them monsters when they are young. It's the Kamome Monster Nursery. In which, many monsters reside, the researcher's and "parent" workers's goals are to enrich the monsters' lives, such as working in a therapeutic way long term, given most that enter are in need of psychological help, and the most important one, habilitate them to become functional parts of society, using their special abilities for things such as shows, community labour, and others. The facility has a few workers that retrieve fully abandoned eggs and bring them back to the facility, some of the monsters being raised since birth. The major issue they seem to be encountering is that them monsters are biologically designed to have either destructive tendencies, issues socializing with humans, insecurity, urges, or difficulties using their own powers. Kamome Monster Nursery makes sure everything is set in place. And Aoi Akane, their newest addition, a supervisor that tended to stay for fewer amounts of times in each facility, was now in charge of Minamoto Teru while the rest of the researchers worked with their assigned monsters. What a bad choice to put the short-tempered, direct and hardworking supervisor with the graduate monster that was known for being teasing, playful and witty, on top of acting lazy around others just to annoy them.
